$250 million Sandmann lawsuit against Washington Post dismissed by federal judge By Max Londberg USA TODAY July 27, 2019 CINCINNATI — The $250 million lawsuit filed by Nick Sandmann against the Washington Post has been dismissed by a federal judge. William Bertelsman, who heard oral arguments in the case earlier this month, issued the ruling Friday. Nick and his attorneys, Todd McMurtry and L. Lin Wood, alleged that the gist of The Washington Post’s first article conveyed that Nick had assaulted or physically intimidated Nathan Phillips, engaged in racist conduct, and engaged in taunts. AZ Central July 26, 2019 WASHINGTON — Attorneys for former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said on Thursday in federal court that he had “become a whipping boy to get to the president” as part of the defamation lawsuit he filed against news outlets. In December, attorneys representing Arpaio filed a $300 million lawsuit against CNN, the Huffington Post and Rolling Stone, claiming the outlets had published false information about Arpaio.
