Former French President Sarkozy Convicted of Corruption, Handed Jail Sentence Newsmax March 1, 2021 Judges found former president Nicolas Sarkozy guilty of trying to bribe a judge and of influence-peddling on Monday and sentenced him to three years in jail, with two years suspended. Sarkozy, who led France from 2007 to 2012, had denied any wrongdoing, saying he was the victim of a witch-hunt by financial prosecutors who used excessive means to snoop on his affairs. Retired from politics but still influential among conservatives, Sarkozy has 10 days to appeal the ruling. Continue Reading…..

By Caleb Ecarma Vanity Fair February 28, 2021 In the final weeks of Donald Trump’s presidency, many of the swamp leeches who’d spent four years attached to him focused on leveraging their parasitic bond to power for as much cash as possible before January 20. One such hanger-on was Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union and husband to former top Trump communications aide Mercedes Schlapp. Matt Schlapp has built his influence in part by directing ACU’s annual Conservative Political Action Conference—essentially the Panama City Beach spring break for College Republicans trying to get laid, Comic-Con for…
Yahoo News February 28, 2021 The lobbying firm run by Trump ally Matt Schlapp brought in $750,000 in the final two weeks of 2020 from a former top Trump fundraiser and convicted fraudster who retained Schlapp to lobby—unsuccessfully—for a presidential pardon. Why it matters: The substantial sum that the former fundraiser, Georgia’s Parker “Pete” Petit, paid to Schlapp’s Cove Strategies shows how valuable connections to Donald Trump were in his final days in office for wealthy felons seeking clemency from the outgoing president. What’s new: Lobbying disclosure records filed on Thursday said Schlapp, a close informal Trump advisor, worked…
Post-Breakup, Kim Kardashian Continues to Own the Message By Raven Smith Vogue February 27, 2021 Whilst refreshing viral feta recipes in my feed and muting Meghan Markle trolls, my mind turns to Kim Kardashian. After seven years of marriage (were we ever so young?), she filed for divorce from Kanye West last week. The initial report that Kim Kardashian West was dropping the West was immediately overshadowed by the zoo of men dressed as Viking fertility art storming Capitol Hill, the announcement felt like a fever dream. But the divorce is imminent, and it was Kanye’s erratic presidential…

Dr. David Andrews of UM’s Miller School of Medicine calls it “really eye-opening.” “We’re discovering variants of many different varieties,” he adds. “From many different locations, from an array of countries and array of sources.” Continue Reading…..

More than a dozen Republicans tell House they can’t attend votes due to ‘public health emergency.’ They’re slated to be at CPAC. By Dana Bash, Manu Raju, Daniella Diaz, Lauren Fox and Michael Warren CNN February 27, 2021 (CNN)More than a dozen of former President Donald Trump’s closest Republican allies in the House skipped Friday’s votes and enlisted their colleagues to vote on their behalf, signing letters saying they can’t attend “due to the ongoing public health emergency.” But those members are actually in Orlando and listed as speakers at the Conservative Political Action Conference, an annual meeting…
By Larry Klayman RenewAmerica February 27, 2021 This is the week that was and will always be for the so called American Conservative Union’s (“ACU”) conference, otherwise misnamed as the Conservative Political Action Conference or “CPAC” for short. Run by a Republican lobbyist hack, Matt Schlapp, who I refer to as “Matt Schlock,” which means “rubbish” in Yiddish, this self-proclaimed conservative organization, will this Sunday showcase Donald Trump, a presidential candidate in 2016 who was initially shunned by Schlock and his Republican establishment lobbyist minions. Only after The Donald won the White House, did this profiteering group conveniently and…
