This, Trump said, was Allen Weisselberg, his chief financial officer, and he was filling in for George Ross, another executive who had appeared on the show. “If you think George is tough, wait until you see Allen,” Trump…

‘Sexist’ Marilyn Monroe statue installed in Palm Springs amid widespread opposition By Jori Finkel CNN June 23, 2021 Multiple protests, a popular petition, a legal action and a small fire have not been enough to stop the city of Palm Springs from installing a supersized and “hyper-sexualized” Marilyn Monroe sculpture on a public site next to the Palm Springs Art Museum. On Sunday, city council members presided over a dedication ceremony for the sculpture by late artist Seward Johnson known as “Forever Marilyn” — or #metoomarilyn by those who find it exploitative — that shows the actress with…
By Paulina Villegas Washington Post June 23, 2021 Ammon Bundy has carried a small copy of the U.S. Constitution in his front pocket for the past seven years. He does so to remind himself of what the government is supposed to do to serve the people without abusing its authority, he said. The far-right activist known for his armed occupation of federal land in Oregon rejects the “anti-government label” but is happy to swap it for a catchier one: “I am definitely anti-corrupt-government, anticronyism,” he said in an interview with The Washington Post, adding he has never rallied for…
Emmys Lets Actors and Actresses Opt for Gender-Neutral ‘Performer’ Moniker By Corbin Bolies The Daily Beast June 23, 2021 Emmy nominees can now opt for a “performer” label on their nomination certificate or winner’s trophy, the Television Academy announced Monday. The change is akin to their policies for submissions, which has never required actors to identify as either an “actor” or “actress.” It comes as Hollywood redefines how gender is incorporated into award shows. Last year, Billions actor Kate Dillon, who is nonbinary, wrote an open letter to Screen Actors Guild leadership asking them to remove gender-specific categories…
