(Washington, D.C., January 31, 2014). Today, Larry Klayman, the founder of Judicial Watch and now Freedom Watch and a former U.S. Justice Department prosecutor, announced that the court which recently enjoyed the National Security Agency and other Government Defendants, including but not limited to President Barack Obama, from indiscriminately spying on the totality of the American people, will hold a hearing/status conference in case numbers 13-cv-851 and 13-cv-881 this Monday at 2:30 pm.
Klayman has asked for the status conference to discuss how the cases can be moved expeditiously into the discovery phase and then to trial, as the gross violations of Fourth Amendment constitutional rights continues daily. The Obama administration is attempting to drag out any appeals. Judge Leon had stayed the implementation of his preliminary injunction order in good faith, to allow the NSA and other Government Defendants to exhaust their appellate rights.
In this regard, Klayman is also filing on Monday a petition for writ of certiorari to ask the Supreme Court to accelerate the appeals of the NSA defendants and decide finally the constitutional issues immediately. Klayman wants to leapfrog the D.C. Circuit appellate court and have the Supreme Court decide the constitutional issues now.
“This is a very important status conference/hearing as it will likely chart the future course of these crucial court cases that seek to restore freedom to our citizenry,” stated Klayman. “This government tyranny cannot continue one day longer than necessary. It is therefore important to quickly adjudicate the important issues before the courts and to remedy these illegal acts immediately.”
